Privacy policy

Hudson's Furniture Inc. operates hudsonsfurniture.com. We're part of the Hudson's Furniture + Mattress family of companies, a family-owned furniture and mattress business with showrooms across Central Florida. We sell online and deliver to the 48 contiguous United States.

This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and online store, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It also explains how we share information with our affiliated showroom company so your orders get delivered and serviced.

The short version

You can browse our site without telling us who you are. When you create an account, place an order, sign up for emails, or ask us a question, we collect the information we need to serve you. We use cookies and similar tools to run the site, understand how people use it, and show you our ads on Google and Facebook. We don't sell your personal information for money. We do share some browsing data with advertising partners, which counts as "sharing" under California law, and you can opt out at any time.

Questions, requests, or corrections: [email protected] or (877) 340-5799.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and password or one-time login code.

  • Order information: billing and shipping addresses, items purchased, delivery instructions, and order history.

  • Payment information: your payment card is processed by our payment providers, not by us. We receive confirmation of the transaction, the card type, and the last four digits. We never see or store your full card number.

  • Communications: messages you send through our contact forms, live chat, email, text, or phone. We don't record phone calls or chat audio. We do save written chat transcripts and form submissions so we can follow up on your question and keep a record of your order.

  • Marketing preferences: whether you've asked to receive emails, and what you've told us you're interested in.

  • Design and consultation details: room dimensions, photos, style preferences, and project notes you share with our designers.

  • Reviews and survey responses, including anything you choose to post publicly.

Information we collect automatically

  • Your IP address, browser type, device type, and operating system.

  • Pages you view, products you browse, searches you run, and items you add to your cart.

  • The site or ad that referred you to us, and the links you click while you're here.

  • General location based on your IP address, which is usually accurate to the city level.

  • A recording of your visit, including mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and the path you took through the site. Text you type into form fields is masked. This is described in the Cookies section below.

  • Cookie and device identifiers, described in the Cookies section below.

Information from other sources

  • Our advertising and analytics partners, who tell us how our ads performed.

  • Synchrony and Affirm, who tell us whether a financing application was approved and for how much. They don't send us your credit report or your credit score.

  • Delivery carriers, who tell us where your order is.

  • Our affiliated showroom company, when you've shopped with us in person.

  • Public sources and marketing partners, used to keep contact records accurate.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Process, deliver, and support your orders, including scheduling delivery and handling service requests.

  • Create and maintain your account, your saved cart, and your wishlist.

  • Answer your questions and provide design consultations.

  • Send order confirmations, delivery updates, and other transactional messages.

  • Send marketing emails if you've asked for them, and let you stop at any time.

  • Show you our ads on other websites and apps, and measure whether those ads worked.

  • Recommend products and personalize what you see on the site.

  • Understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

  • Prevent fraud, secure our systems, and verify orders before we ship.

  • Meet our legal, tax, accounting, warranty, and recordkeeping obligations.

We may also use your personal information for purposes compatible with the ones described here, and for any other purpose we tell you about at the time we collect it. If we ever want to use your information for something genuinely different from what's described in this policy, we'll tell you first.

We don't use your personal information to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without human involvement.

Cookies and tracking technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We also use pixels, tags, and similar technologies. Here's what runs on our site and what each one does:

Technology

Provider

What it does

Shopify platform cookies

Shopify

Runs the store. Keeps you logged in, remembers your cart, processes checkout, and protects against fraud. These are required for the site to work.

Google Analytics 4

Google

Tells us how many people visit, which pages they view, and where they came from. Used to improve the site.

Google Ads conversion tracking and remarketing

Google

Measures which ads lead to purchases, and lets us show our ads to people who've visited our site.

Meta Pixel

Meta

Measures our Facebook and Instagram ad performance, and lets us show our ads to people who've visited our site.

Klaviyo

Klaviyo

Powers our email marketing. Records which emails you open, which links you click, and what you browsed so we can send you relevant messages, including a reminder if you leave something in your cart.

Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft

Records how you use the site, including mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and the order you moved through pages, and can replay that session for us. Also builds heatmaps showing where people click. We use it to find confusing pages, broken layouts, and steps where people get stuck. Text you type into form fields is masked.

We group these into three buckets:

  • Strictly necessary. The site can't function without them. You can't turn these off.

  • Analytics and performance. They tell us how the site is used, which pages people visit, and where they run into trouble. This bucket includes session recording, which captures how you moved through the site and lets us replay that visit.

  • Advertising and marketing. They support our ads and our email program.

How to control cookies. Use the cookie preferences link in our website footer to change your choices at any time. You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies, though blocking strictly necessary cookies will break your cart and checkout.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, also known as GPC, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information for that browser. Because the signal is tied to the browser, you'll need to send it from each browser and device you use, or submit a request through the contact details below so we can apply it to your account.

Do Not Track. Browsers send Do Not Track signals in different and inconsistent ways, and there's no common standard for responding to them. We don't respond to Do Not Track. We do honor Global Privacy Control, described above.

Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information for money. We share it in these situations:

Our affiliated companies. Hudson's Furniture Inc. runs this website. Our showrooms are operated by an affiliated Hudson's company. We share customer and order information between us so showroom teams can deliver and service your online orders, so our designers can help you whether you started online or in person, and so you get one account and one order history either way.

We may share information the same way with other Hudson's companies that exist now or that we form or acquire later, where they operate under the Hudson's name and are under common ownership. If our business changes so that this no longer describes how information moves between us, we'll update this policy.

Service providers who work on our behalf. These are the companies that run parts of our business for us. They may only use the information to perform services for us, and they're contractually barred from using it for their own purposes.

We work with service providers in the following categories: website hosting and ecommerce, payment processing, email marketing, delivery and freight, site search and product recommendations, shipping rate calculation, customer reviews, customer messaging and chat, analytics and advertising, session recording and site experience testing, business and order management systems, fraud prevention, and professional services. The companies below are the ones we use today. We add and change vendors over time, and when a new one falls into a category already described here, we don't republish this policy for it.

If we start collecting a category of information this policy doesn't describe, or start using a genuinely new kind of tracking technology, we'll update this policy before we turn it on.

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store and processes orders.

  • Payment processors, including Shopify Payments, PayPal, and the card networks, which handle transactions.

  • Klaviyo, which sends our marketing emails.

  • Delivery and freight carriers, which get the name, address, phone number, and delivery instructions needed to bring your order to your door.

  • Searchspring, which powers site search, filtering, and product recommendations.

  • ShipperHQ, which calculates delivery pricing.

  • Judge.me, which collects and displays product reviews.

  • BirdEye, which powers our site forms and live chat.

  • Google, for analytics and advertising as described above.

  • Microsoft, which provides Clarity, our session recording and heatmap tool.

  • Our internal business systems, which hold order and customer records.

  • Professional advisors, including accountants, auditors, and attorneys.

Advertising partners. We share online identifiers and browsing activity with Google and Meta so we can show you our ads and measure how they perform. Under California law this counts as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and under several other state laws it counts as "targeted advertising." You can opt out. See Your privacy choices below.

Financing partners. If you apply for financing or a lease-to-own agreement, your application goes directly to Synchrony or Affirm, who make their own credit decisions under their own privacy policies. We receive the approval decision and the approved amount. We don't receive your credit report or credit score.

Business transfers. If Hudson's is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, customer information may transfer as part of that transaction. We'll tell you if that happens and if it changes how your information is handled.

Legal reasons. We'll disclose information when the law requires it, in response to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hudson's, our customers, or the public. This includes investigating fraud and enforcing our Terms of Service. More generally, we may use and disclose information as otherwise permitted or required by applicable law.

We do not sell or share the personal information of anyone we know to be under 16 years old.

Email and text messages

Email. We send promotional emails only to people who've asked for them. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also email [email protected] and ask us to remove you.

Texting us. You can text our showrooms and designers at the numbers listed on our site. If you do, we'll have your phone number and the content of your messages, and we'll use them to answer your question and support your order. We don't run a promotional text message program and we won't add you to a marketing text list because you texted us.

Unsubscribing from marketing email doesn't stop transactional messages. We'll still send order confirmations, delivery scheduling, and service updates, because you need them to complete your purchase.

Your privacy choices

Everyone who shops with us can:

  • Update your account, by logging in and editing your profile.

  • Unsubscribe from marketing email, using the link in any message.

  • Opt out of analytics and advertising cookies, including session recording, using the cookie preferences link in our footer or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal.

  • Opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

  • Adjust the ads Google shows you at myadcenter.google.com, and the ads Meta shows you in your Facebook and Instagram ad settings.

  • Contact us directly at [email protected] or (877) 340-5799 with any request.

Your rights under state privacy laws

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. We'll honor them for residents of every state that grants them.

  • Know and access. Ask what personal information we've collected about you, where it came from, why we collected it, and who we've disclosed it to.

  • Get a copy. Receive a copy of your personal information in a portable format.

  • Correct. Fix personal information that's inaccurate.

  • Delete. Ask us to delete personal information we've collected, subject to legal exceptions. Some records, including completed order and transaction records, are kept because tax, accounting, and warranty law requires it.

  • Opt out of targeted advertising, and of the sale or sharing of personal information.

  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We don't collect sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you.

  • Be free from retaliation. We won't deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.

How to submit a request. Email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request," or call (877) 340-5799. Tell us what you'd like us to do and give us enough information to find your records, usually the email address or phone number on your account.

How we verify you. We'll ask you to confirm details we already have on file, such as your email address, phone number, or recent order information. If we can't verify you, we'll tell you why. We'll never ask you to send us a Social Security number, a password, or a photo of a government ID by email.

Authorized agents. You can have someone submit a request for you. We'll ask for written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to verify your own identity.

Our timeline. We'll confirm we received your request within 10 business days and respond within 45 calendar days. If we need more time we'll tell you why, and we may extend by another 45 days.

Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our response or writing to [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We'll respond within 45 days with our decision and our reasons. If we deny the appeal, we'll tell you how to contact your state attorney general.

California Shine the Light. California residents may ask once a year for a list of the third parties with whom we shared personal information for their direct marketing purposes in the prior year. Send that request to [email protected] with the subject line "Shine the Light."

Notice of financial incentive

We offer a discount on your first online order when you sign up for our emails. Because that discount is tied to giving us your personal information, the law treats it as a financial incentive and requires us to explain it.

What we're offering. $100 off your first online order of $1,000 or more.

What we collect for it. Your email address, and the first name you give us if you provide one.

How to sign up. Enter your email in the signup form on our site and confirm you want our emails. You're never required to sign up, and you can shop without it.

How to withdraw. Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any marketing email, or email [email protected]. If you withdraw before using your discount code, the code stops working.

What your information is worth to us. We estimate the value of your email address at up to $100, which is the face value of the discount. We calculated it that way because the discount is what we're actually willing to pay to add you to our email list, which makes it the most honest measure we have. The offer is reasonably related to that value.

How long we keep your information

Type of information

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records

For as long as we're in business. Furniture and mattress warranties run for years and some run for the life of the product, so we keep purchase records to honor warranty claims, service history, delivery disputes, and product recalls, and to meet tax and accounting requirements.

Customer account information

For as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

Marketing contact information

Until you unsubscribe. After that we keep your email address on a suppression list so we don't contact you again by mistake.

Website analytics and advertising data

Reporting data in Google Analytics is kept for 14 months. We also keep a long-term copy of raw website activity in our own data warehouse so we can compare performance year over year.

Customer service messages and chat transcripts

For as long as we work with our messaging provider. We don't delete them on a set schedule. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous so it can no longer be tied to you.

How we protect your information

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring to protect personal information, and we work with providers who maintain their own security programs. Our payment processors are PCI DSS compliant, and we don't store full payment card numbers on our systems.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Your part. Our store doesn't use passwords. When you sign in, we email you a one-time code, which means access to your email account is what protects your Hudson's account. Keep that email account secure, don't share sign-in codes with anyone, and don't share your account with people you don't want seeing your order history and addresses. If you use a shared or public computer, sign out when you're done.

Tell us right away at [email protected] or (877) 340-5799 if you think someone has gained access to your account or used it without your permission. The sooner we know, the more we can do about it.

Children's privacy

Our website is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and no part of our site is directed at children. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

Job applicants

Our open positions are posted and handled through Indeed. If you apply for a job with us, Indeed's privacy policy covers that application. This policy covers customers and website visitors, not applicants or employees.

Where we operate

Hudson's operates in the United States and delivers to the 48 contiguous states. We don't ship to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or international addresses. Our website and services are meant for people in the United States, and any information we collect is stored and processed here.

Links to other websites

Our site links to other websites, including brand partners, financing providers, and social media. This policy doesn't cover them. Read the privacy policy of any site you visit before you share information with it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy when our practices change. The effective date at the top shows when the current version took effect. If we make a material change, we'll post a notice on the site and, where the law requires it, contact you directly. We review this policy at least once a year.
